Three of our Model A's ventured out this past weekend for an excursion (the Farrow's, Gormely's and Reid's). Following are their notes.
On Sunday May 24th we had it. We must go "A-ing". Road trip somewhere, one of our CCA’s members called and suggested a trip away from our confines of home. We, the 3+3, struck out planning as we went. With our mask and 6 foot rule in hand were off!
As most business were closed or limited hours we figured what the he**. Heading north from New Bern and knowing the NC Ferry System had limited trips, we ventured out on the back roads of Easter North Carolina. Heading to the Intercoastal city of Belhaven via (little) Washington . On the way a short stop at Goose Creek State Park. Lovely drive down the treelined roads. Some of the trails were closed.
Very little traffic was encountered and 40 mph was just about right. It was a drive and not a race.
Arrived in Belhaven just in time for lunch at possibly the only restaurant open in town. The Fish Hook Café had everything down and all precautions taken. Everybody at a distance and wonderful food, and it is so very hard to eat great food with the mask. So we broke the rules... but so worth it!
Took a tour of the waterfront, marina and downtown.
Return trip was a short ride to the ferry boat. Be sure you check out any
schedule and time just in case.
We were first on first off, what a way to get out for
a fine
"A" DAY
