Now is the time to become a member !! If you are a Model A Ford owner, or just thinking about becoming an owner we would welcome you into our club. We are always happy to talk about Model A's, give advice about Model A's (sometimes competing advice too -- its free you know!) to anybody that wants to listen. Dues are only $20 per year and you get to meet a bunch of nice people. Heck you can even come to our meetings and forget about the dues! We are an active club organizing tours from the day trip to the extended tour (i.e. Blue Ridge Parkway, MARC National meets etc.).
There's no excuse to not have fun!

2022 MARC National Meet, Morgantown, PA

June 5 - June 11, 2022

About a half dozen or so Coastal Carolina A's made the trip to Morgantown to participate (Don & Judy, Richard and Vicki, Mike with his daughter and boyfriend, Randall, Grier & Kristin). Send me any additional pictures if you want them included in this post. The meet was hosted at the Holiday Inn next to a fantastic Antique Auto Mall. This was a repurposed mall consisting of about 40 acres of antique cars.
The Host Hotel - Holiday Inn was booked up when I made hotel arrangements, same with Mike and Randall. We had to stay at different hotels, so in the future if you think you want to go to a National Meet, please book as soon as you can. Mike and Randall were at one of the alternative hotels, which was Denver, PA about 15 miles away. Kristin and I stayed at a Bed and Breakfast in Churchtown - about 4 miles away. One of the repair tent volunteers and wife also stayed at our Bed & Breakfast and it was great getting to know them. We had a wonderful view from our room, which as we discovered was very typical of this beautiful part of Amish Pennsylvania.
The first full day was Monday and below are a few pictures of the Model A's parked at the host hotel.

There were at least 495 registered parties that signed up according to the check-in volunteers! Below are a few pictures of the "Tires, Wheels, Valve Stems" seminar.

Below is an interesting use or modification of a Model A -I wonder how well it did on the grand tour!

(Mike)
We found this great Amish place close by to eat lunch or dinner. It was called September Farms. About a 5 mile drive.

Here they made fresh baked goods and cheese.

The second day of the National Meet some of us attended the Paint and Striping seminar by Jim Brand. Jim is the man to go to if you want pin striping done.

Notice that the pin striping was done at the Ford Factory before the door handles were installed. As Jim said, this way there are "no speed bumps" when striping. He had many interesting factory pictures.
Next to our Bed and Breakfast Inn we found a nice park called Historic Poole Forge with a nice red covered bridge to explore.

Finding this covered bridge gave us the idea to go out and find other covered bridges on Thursday after the Grand Tour which will be covered further down. The next day (Wednesday) some of us attended the seminar on "Model A Fuel System". I only took one picture showing all the variations of the fuel line sediment bulbs.
Wednesday was the day for judging the Fine Point and Touring class Model A's. Mike entered his Model A for Touring Class judging. Kristin and I took off to Strasburg to see the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum. What a place !!

The Next day (Thursday) was the Grand Tour to Landis Village for lunch and walking around the historic village. It was about a 33 mile one way trip through the countryside.
Lining up for the Grand Tour at the Holiday Inn
Arriving at the Landis Village Farm and Museum
Out in the grassy parking area for all the Model A's

For the rest of the day we went exploring to various covered bridges. Below are some pictures of the bridges we visited.

Finally on Friday we all drove home after a great MARC National Meet. The weather cooperated and the experience was fun. The next National Meet is in Hamilton, Ohio July 30-August 4, 2023. Save the date and when the hotels open up be quick to reserve your room.

Vicki sent me some additional pictures for the blog. Below you can see that Richard was on the job as the unofficial "Prohibition Enforcer" for the MARC meet. I don't think he made any arrests - the crowd was well behaved.
I think the owner of this Model A has something to say about Prohibition!! What a great radiator cap!
Next I believe is Richard in the fine point judging with Don looking on.
Here is what everyone wants for their Model A!
Appears that Don is helping someone with their taillight.
Next is Richard hunting down some Model A Parts in the parking lot next to the host hotel. It is nice to come to the National MARC meeting just for the swap meet - only Model A goodies. As Vicki pointed out "Shop 'till you drop!"
Richard and Vicki ventured out to a sheep farm "you can never get enough sheep photos" :)
Beautiful pictures of the Pennsylvania Amish country - clothes flapping in the breeze, cows taking a rest and a beautiful image of an Amish horse drawn carriage driving past the high prices of gasoline!
